Time Slip

September 28, 2003
When the car rolled over 170,000 original miles, my friends suggested replacing my valve springs which had to be turning to jelly at this mileage. I was lucky to get the opportunity to purchase used 1993 GT40 iron heads and 1.6 rockers...here's some pics:
The operation took place at my pal Jimmy's place and 10 second Mike assisted with the operation.
(The rear is up because 4.10 gears were also thrown in to replace the 3.73s)
Here the upper intake is off.
I was concerned that I'd lose the $300 worth of freon I just paid for, but Mike and Jimmy assured me that purging the A/C system would not be necessary.
The lower and a few other things are off.
Jimmy was impressed that the internals looked pretty good for an engine with this mileage.
Stock head is outta there.......
Down to the shortblock.
(Note the A/C equipment carefully positioned out of the way)
GT40 Iron heads bolted into place...
1.6 Roller Rockers go in.
It pays to have good friends...thanks so much guys.
